On 11 May 2021, in Ah Kye village (Myitkyina township, Myitkyina district, Kachin state), an 11-year-old boy was killed while his mother was injured after a landmine exploded at a rubber plantation near a military base. Following the blast, the mother was taken away to the military camp for interrogation after soldiers accused her son of carrying an explosive.
