Officials from Yinmabin District have reported that three soldiers from a State Administration Council (SAC) column patrolling Pale Township, Yinmabin District, Sagaing Region, defected to the Yinmabin District People's Defense Force (PDF) with their weapons on March 1st and March 5th.

It is reported that these three soldiers are personnel from People's Militia Training Batches 15 and 17. The defectors stated, "One person from Batch 15 was forcibly conscripted in Mandalay. The other two were attending training in Yangon to go to Japan when they were forcibly conscripted."

Upon their surrender, they reportedly brought two MA1 rifles, one M4 with an underslung attachment, 450 rounds of ammunition, hand grenades, and landmines.
