CBRN event in Greece on Sun 8th March 2026
8th March 2026
A group of about 30 people in central Athens attacked a coach carrying the Olympiakos women’s basketball team back from a game against cross-town rivals Panathinaikos, state ERT television said. No injuries were reported from the incident late Saturday. Police fired tear gas to dismiss the youths, and the coach was able to continue on its course. Police are examining video footage of the attack to identify the perpetrators. ERT said the group of people attacked the coach outside the Panathinaikos basketball court on central Alexandras Avenue as it was leaving the venue, threw stones and a chair at the vehicle and verbally abused the players inside. The game, which Panathinaikos won 90-70, had been played without spectators in the stands for fear of fan violence.
