On Sunday night, there was an explosion at the US embassy in Huseby in Oslo.

No one was injured, but police are taking the matter very seriously.

No one has been arrested in the case so far.

Frode Larsen of the Oslo police says that they have conducted a number of witness interviews with people in the neighborhood who have made interesting observations.

– There are observations of people in the area that we consider interesting, says the investigation leader.

They have also collected a lot of video material that they are now working on verifying.

Since no one has been arrested in the case, the police are working on several theories.

They said at a press conference earlier today that one of the hypotheses is that the explosion is terror.

No one arrested or suspected
The explosion occurred at the public entrance to the US embassy.

Photos from the scene on Sunday morning show broken glass and fallen lamps.

On Sunday evening, a spokesperson for the US State Department told NRK that they are also investigating the explosion.

– We thank the Norwegian authorities for their support in the investigation, they add.

Head of operational service in the Oslo police, Grete Metlid, said during the press conference that explosives were "thrown" at the embassy.

– Was it a hand grenade?

– We have not said anything about what was thrown. It is an explosive device. We will not respond to anything beyond that at this time.

The police have been searching for the perpetrators using helicopters, dogs and drones.
