On 27 February 2026, in Manaus - West Zone (Amazonas), four unidentified armed men invaded a property in the Taruma neighborhood and shot and killed a retired military police officer and another man with rifles. The perpetrators restrained the former officer and killed him inside the residence, while the second victim was found dead inside a vehicle on the property. The retired officer had previously been convicted and sentenced to 64 years and eight months in prison for his role in a 2015 massacre linked to a land dispute and was suspected of involvement in an extermination group. The killing was suspected to be an execution. The motive for the attack remains unclear. 2 fatalities.
