On 26 February 2026, Afghan border forces and Pakistani military forces exchanged fire and mortar shells in Lagharai area (Bajaur, KPK), across Jalababad district in Afghanistan. Afghan mortar rounds landed at a mosque and several residential homes in Lagharai, killing two Pakistani civilians and wounding seven others, including a woman. An additional five civilians were wounded in Jalalabad during the exchange of fire. A series of escalated retaliatory cross-border firing, shelling, and air strikes targeting military positions began between the two sides, following intermittent clashes on 24-25 February after Pakistan conducted air strikes on claimed TTP targets inside Afghanistan on 21 February 2026 (coded separately). Total 2 fatalities and 12 injured.
