Air Delivered event in Nangarhar, Goshta area, Afghanistan on Thu 26th February 2026

On 26 February 2026, clashes erupted between the Taliban and Pakistan military forces in the Anargi area of Goshta district, Nangarhar, along the Durand Line, bordering Salala, Mohmand district in Pakistan. The Taliban claimed that they carried out these strikes in retaliation to Pakistan's recent airstrikes (coded separately) and that they captured three Pakistani checkpoints. The Taliban also claimed that 19 checkpoints were captured and 15 were destroyed in total in Nangarhar, Khost, and Kunar, and that several Pakistani forces were killed and several arrested. Casualties unknown. Pakistan claimed that in border clashes from 21-27 February, 228-274 Taliban forces were killed, 314-400 Taliban were wounded, 73 checkpoints and 115 tanks were destroyed, and 18 checkpoints were seized. Pakistan confirmed the killing of 12 Pakistani soldiers and the wounding of 27 others. However, the Taliban claimed that in border clashes from 21-27 February, 55-75 Pakistani soldiers were killed and 48 others were wounded. The Taliban also confirmed that 13 Taliban forces were killed and 27 others were wounded. A total of 25 confirmed fatalities were split across 20 events. 1 split fatality was coded to this event.
