SAA event in Cortes, San Pedro Sula area, Honduras on Thu 26th February 2026

On 26 February 2026, in San Pedro Sula, Cortes, at least four armed individuals shot and killed a Chinese man at his business location on Junior Avenue in the Las Flores neighborhood after getting off the vehicle in which they were traveling. They then fled the scene. According to witnesses, this was a targeted attack as the businessman was the only one on site at the time of the incident and he had been watched by the perpetrators prior to the attack. The motivation of the attack is unknown, although the hypothesis of extorsion, a widespread practice by criminal groups affecting business owners, has not be discarded by the authorities. 1 fatality.
