Undefined Explosive Device (UED) event in El Oro, Machala area, Ecuador on Thu 26th February 2026

On 26 February 2026, in Machala (El Oro), two unidentified armed men detonated an explosive device at the entrance of a house in the Urdesa Este neighborhood. The attackers arrived on a motorcycle, placed an object at the door, and fled. Seconds later, the object detonated, causing severe structural damage to the house, damaging motorcycles parked outside, and injuring a resident of the house who was on the second floor. The event is related to a dispute between criminal gangs; the house belongs to relatives of a leader of the Lobos Sao Box gang. Other explosives were detonated in houses that belonged to relatives of gang members at Manuel Estomba and Napoleon Mera streets. Authorship is unknown. There were no fatalities.
