On 26 February 2026, an unidentified armed group shot and killed the queen mother of the Abamba Traditional Area in Atebubu (Atebubu Amantin, Bono East) as she tried to enter her room. The attackers shot 5 times. Two unidentified men were seen fleeing the scene while all her valuables, including her handbag, remained at the scene. There were no further details on the motives.
