Hamas earlier claimed it had fired rockets at Israel after setting al-Aqsa Mosque ultimatum At least nine Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip by Israeli air strikes on Monday evening, the Palestinian health ministry said. Three children were among the dead and several others were injured in Beit Hanoun, in northern Gaza. Hamas's military wing, al-Qassam Brigades, earlier claimed it had fired missiles from Gaza, setting off sirens in Jerusalem and a dozen Israeli towns, after the expiry of its 6pm ultimatum for Israeli forces to withdraw from al-Aqsa Mosque. Israel's military said a man was injured by an anti-tank missile fired from Gaza. The Israeli emergency medical service Magen David Adom said a 49-year-old man was in a moderate condition after being injured by shards of glass. Hundreds of Palestinians were injured when Israeli forces stormed al-Aqsa Mosque on Monday morning. Tensions have been raised throughout Monday over concerns about the impact of a planned Israeli march through the Old City of Jerusalem, which was originally scheduled to pass through the Muslim Quarter. The past week has been marked by confrontations between Palestinians and Israeli forces. This is a developing story.
