On 25 February 2026, in Duran (Guayas), four armed men killed four fishermen inside a house located in Manzana 13 of the Maldonado neighborhood. The victims were celebrating a birthday and their return after a fishing trip at sea. The attackers arrived and fired directly at the four victims; other people at the gathering were not attacked. One of the victims had criminal records for extortion. Authorship and motivations are unknown. 4 fatalities.
