On 25 February 2026, in Sao Jose de Ribamar (Maranhao), two unidentified armed suspects shot two people in the Cruzeiro neighbourhood. The suspects broke into a school in which both victims worked at and fired against them, escaping afterwards. A man was shot and killed and his father was injured. The suspects were later killed in an armed clash with military police forces (coded separately). The motivations are unknown. 1 fatality.
