On 24 February 2026, near Thaing Chaung village (Kyaukpyu township, Kyaukpyu district, Rakhine state), the Aarakan Army (ULA/AA) intercepted and attacked a column of around 100 Myanmar military soldiers in the morning. During the armed clash, the military conducted drone strikes and dropped bombs and fired heavy weapons. More than 20 military soldiers were killed and some were injured.
