On 24 February 2026, in Hpakant town (Hpakant township, Mohnyin district, Kachin state), the Myanmar military open fired at a civilian who fled into the jade market while they were conducting inspection near the Kyauk Sein Taung bridge. The civilian escaped. Subsequently, the military soldiers arrested a civilian who was playing billiards in the jade market. The military soldier arrested another 2 civilians travelling by a motorcycle for unknown reasons.
