On 24 February 2026, in Chaung-U town (Chaung-U township, Monywa district, Sagaing region), a convoy of 4 civilian vehicles carrying about 40 Myanmar military soldiers who stationed in the general administration department office entered Ye Hlay village and opened fire randomly. 2 civilians (a man and a woman) were injured. The military soldiers also detained some civilians inside the Shwe Zay Di monastery.
