On 24 February 2026, in Prado (Bahia), unidentified armed individuals shot and injured two people in the Barra do Cahy region. The victims were passing by a roadblock set by Indigenous groups when the suspects got scared and fired against the victims' car, escaping immediately. Hours later, police arrested 12 indigenous militia individuals who were suspects of the attack and seized firearms. The event took place amidst territorial disputes between Indigenous groups and farmers in the region. Indigenous leaders claimed that the attack was not perpetrated by Indigenous groups and accused farmers of setting up the blockage. There were no fatalities.
