On 24 February 2026, in Sorriso (Mato Grosso do Sul), an armed individual, likely a drug trafficker, broke into a residence in the Morada do Sol neighborhood and shot a man in the eye. According to the police, the house belongs to a man who left the city after receiving threats from criminal factions, and the residence was rented to the victim. Drugs were seized at the house. There are no reports on the motive or the identity of the perpetrators. There were no fatalities.
