On 24 February 2026, M23 coming from Mpety and Mindjenje launched an assault against FARDC positions in Chamungu, a mountainous zone overlooking the villages of Mpety and Katobi, coded to Katobi (Walikale, Wanianga, Nord-Kivu). Light and heavy weapons were heard. FARDC-Wazalendo contained the attack. M23 retreated towards Mpety. Casualties unknown.
