On 23 February 2026, in Canoa (San Vicente, Manabi), individuals on at least two motorcycles killed two people who were passengers in a mototaxi in a drive-by shooting in the La Y de Canoa sector. The mototaxi driver survived the attack but was injured. Authorship and motivation are unknown. 2 fatalities.
