On 23 February 2026, an IED planted by suspected Al Shabaab exploded, targeting police officers from the General Service Unit (GSU) while on a mission to fetch water using a water bowser in Harbole (Fafi, Garissa). 3 officers were injured, and the water bowser was damaged during the incident.
