SAA event in Sangre Grande, Manzanilla area, Trinidad and Tobago on Mon 23rd February 2026

On 23 February 2026, in Manzanilla, Sangre Grande, police forces shot and killed an armed man during a clash on Plum Road. According to police, the now deceased was standing on the roadway when he refused to drop his weapon and opened fire on the officers, leading to a clash as they returned fire. A firearm was retrieved. The victim's mother denied the police version claiming that her son was killed at the garden of his home. She also added that he was already dead before being taken to hospital. The woman stated that he had received threats, although she did not clarify if they had something to do with the police. 1 fatality.
