On 22 February 2026, in Demoso township (Loikaw district, Kayah state), a 60mm artillery shell belonging to the Myanmar military detonated at around 8 am after two civilian men and a company commander of the Karenni Nationalities People's Liberation Front (KNPLF) attempted to remove its fuze in order to reuse it. 2 civilian men were killed, and the KNPLF member sustained injuries. 2 fatalities.
