Projectile event in Mon, Kyaung Ywar area, Myanmar on Sun 22nd February 2026

On 22 February 2026, in Kyaung Ywar village (Ye township, Mawlamyine district, Mon state), the Ye Ogre Group attacked seven Myanmar military troops from LIB-591 at about 8 am while they were leaving their base to patrol the area. The two sides then exchanged fire for about 30 minutes, and the military from LIB-591 fired artillery rounds to assist the troops. 4 military troops, including a sergeant and a forcibly conscripted soldier, were killed, and the Ye Ogre Group seized one MA3 rifle, three magazines, and 100 rounds of ammunition. The conscripted soldier was a 24-year-old man who had been detained in Thailand for lacking legal documentation and was handed over to Myanmar by Thai authorities through Ranong. He was later conscripted by the military after he was unable to pay more than 10 million kyat demanded by the military. 4 fatalities.
