On 22 February 2026, in Ka Hnyin Myaing village (Mogaung township, Mohnyin district, Kachin state), a former member of the People's Militia Force, who was allegedly a drug dealer, threw a hand grenade at the members of the Shanni Nationalities Army after they surrounded his house at around 6:30 am. The confrontation occurred following a dispute in which he had allegedly demanded repayment of drug-related debts. The members of the Shanni Nationalities Army fired back. They also seized drugs, heroin, 2 hand grenades and a knife. The former member of the People's Militia Force was injured. He died from sustained injuries on 23 February. 1 fatality.
