On 22 February 2026, near Thar Kaung village (Gangaw township, Gangaw district, Magway region), around 40 members of the Yaw Defense Force deliberately opened fire with small and heavy weapons around 11 pm. Locals claimed that the Yaw Defense Force allegedly opened fire near the village, as some members of the Yaw Defense Force splinter group were present in the village. There were no casualties.
