On 22 February 2026, Pakistani military forces carried out airstrikes in Khost province. Pakistan claimed that seven positions in the provinces of Paktika, Nangarhar, and Khost were targeted, including TTP and ISKP hideouts, killing more than 100 of them, including a senior operational commander of al-Qaeda and a deputy of Hafiz Gul Bahadur's group. Pakistan said that these centers were involved in planning suicide attacks in Bannu, Bajaur, and a mosque on the outskirts of Islamabad. Casualties unknown.
