On 22 February 2026, five unidentified motorcycle-borne armed assailants were suspected of shooting and killing two policemen at the police outpost in Adhian village near Dorangla town (Gurdaspur, Punjab) for unknown reasons. Tehreek-e-Taliban Hindustan - a little-known Pakistan-based outfit - has claimed responsibility for the attack, which the police have denied, stating that there is no known presence in India and suggesting the possibility of diversionary tactics. The police killed one accused during an encounter in Purana Shalla on 25 February (coded separately) and arrested another person. Total 2 fatalities.
