On 22 February 2026, unknown gunmen on motorbikes attacked the house of the former 8th Brigade leader and clashed with his armed group in Busra Esh-Sham town in Dara countryside, while police forces mobilized and surrounded the site of the clash, imposing a tight security cordon around the area. Hours later the former leader Ahamd Al Awda came up with a statement seeking asylum, which resulted in a police forces convoy escorted him to Damascus. Casualties unknown.
