On 22 February 2026, in Zacapu, Michoacan, there was a clash between several armed individuals (likely CJNG) and police officers around Arco Bicentenario. Gunshots were also heard near the premises of the IMSS hospital. The armed individuals also burned vehicles and used them to set up a (narco) roadblock. Casualties unknown. This occurred following the killing of the top leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) during a military operation in Tapalpa earlier that same day (coded separately). Similar incidents were reported in other locations across the state and nationwide (coded separately).
