On 22 February 2026, in Santa Fe de la Laguna, Michoacan, armed individuals (likely CJNG) attacked (method unspecified) the facilities of the interagency operation base (BOI). The BOI integrates members of the Defense, the National Guard, and the Attorney General's Office, with the support of the Criminal Investigation Police, the State Police, and municipal police forces. One officer was shot and injured. This occurred following the killing of the top leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) during a military operation in Tapalpa, Jalisco earlier that same day (coded separately). Similar incidents were reported in other locations across the state and nationwide (coded separately).
