SAA event in Michoacan de Ocampo, La Piedad de Cabadas area, Mexico on Sun 22nd February 2026

On 22 February 2026, around La Piedad de Cabadas, Michoacan, federal (ministerial police) and state forces clashed with members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) after the suspects attempted to block the highway connecting La Piedad and Yurecuaro and km. 42 of La Piedad-Zamora, in front of Monte Verde Ranch, with burning vehicles to try to set up a (narco) roadblock. According to state authorities, the assailants opened fire on members of the state police, wounding four officers. The police repelled the attack and four criminal members were shot and killed. Authorities indicated that the blockades and vehicle arson in the region are a reaction to a military operation in Tapalpa, Jalisco in which the CJNG's top leader was killed during an operation (coded separately). Authorities arrested four individuals. 4 fatalities, 4 injured.
