On 22 February 2026, in Buenavista Tomatlan, Michoacan de Ocampo, suspected members of the CJNG detonated an explosive device at the Attorney General's Office. A public official was inside but managed to take shelter and was not injured. Initially, it was reported to be a drone, but this information was later denied. Also, vehicles were burned to set (narco) roadblocks. This occurred following the killing of the top leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) during a military operation in Tapalpa, Jalisco earlier that same day (coded separately).
