SAA event in Jalisco, El Grullo area, Mexico on Sun 22nd February 2026

On 22 February 2026, in El Grullo, Jalisco, Special Forces from the Army's Parachute Rifle Brigade clashed and killed the CJNG's financial and logistics operator as he attempted to flee in a vehicle. When he was located, the victim was coordinating the CJNG's violent retaliation in the state following the killing of the top leader of the CJNG during a military operation in Tapalpa earlier that same day (coded separately). The victim was one of the CJNG leader's trusted men. According to the Ministry of National Defense, was offering rewards of 20,000 pesos for each soldier killed. A long gun, a handgun, 7.2 million pesos in cash, $965,000, cartridges, and magazines were seized from the victim's vehicle. Authorities reported the killing of 30 CJNG members and 25 officers of the security forces during clashes between on 22 February in Jalisco involving CJNG members. 4 fatality coded in this event, including the killing of the CJNG operator.
