On 22 February 2026, in the municipality of Tapachula (coded to Tapachula de Cordova y Ordonez), Chiapas, State police officers, in coordination with police officers from the Attorney General's Office and Navy personnel, carried out a series of coordinated operations (number unspecified) in different parts of the municipality, during which there was an armed confrontation with no casualties. During the operations, 15 suspected members of the Sinaloa Cartel were arrested, seven of whom were non-Mexican, and 15 long guns, some 40 magazines, and a thousand cartridges were seized. Among those arrested were three former members of Mara Salvatrucha and two former members of Tren de Aragua.
