On 22 February 2026, JNIM militants attacked a camp of gendarmerie and volunteer fighters (VDP) in the town of Manni (Manni, Gnagna, Est). 2 people were killed, including 1 VDP and 1 civilian. Seven others were injured, comprising five gendarmes and two VDP. The militants seized a gendarmerie vehicle during the attack. They also targeted the town, setting fire to shops in the market and burning the prefect's vehicle at the prefecture. JNIM claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it killed at least 1 soldier, and seized a military vehicle, machine guns, and other equipment seized. Additionally, two military vehicles were destroyed. 2 fatalities coded.
