On 21 February 2026, in Thar Si village (Monywa township, Monywa district, Sagaing region), the Myanmar military soldiers guarding the Thar Si prison opened fire at a civilian ferry vehicle carrying 6 civilians and travelling between Monywa and Bhamo towns, which took a wrong turn and passed in front of the Thar Si prison, at around 8:30 pm. The driver was killed. The military soldiers beat the passengers with their guns and arrested them. They were released the next day. 1 fatality.
