On 21 February 2026, in Shwe Kyun Pin village (coded as Thabeikkyin) (Thabeikkyin township, Pyinoolwin district, Mandalay region), fighting broke out between the Myanmar military and a combined force of the People's Defense Force - Mandalay District, the Kyaukse District Defense Force, local PaKaPha groups, and allies. The military subsequently regained control of the village, located about 20 miles from Takaung town, which the military aims to retake. The BBC News and Irrawaddy reported that the military retook the village on 21 February, while Myanmar Now reported that it was regained on 17 February. It is unknown when the village was controlled by resistance forces. Casualties unknown.
