On 21 February 2026, in Nyaung Lay Pin village (Taungdwingyi township, Magway district, Magway region), an unknown armed group shot and killed a village administrator at his house in the afternoon. Locals claimed that he allegedly extorted locals by charging exorbitant electricity fees, demanded money for military conscription exemption, threatened to have the military burn down the village if his actions were reported to the PDF, and threatened to have local youths arrested by falsely accusing them of being PDF informants. 1 fatality.
