On 21 February 2026, Sri Lankan navy officials attacked two Sri Lankan fishermen in the waters off the Western coast (coded as the coast of Western) following a search of their boat for drugs, and took them to the navy's vessel. It is reported that these fishermen were among six fishermen who departed for fishing from the Tuwa boatyard in Negombo on 9 February 2026.
