On 21 February 2026, three suspected men, one of whom is a member of the Abkhazia's Public Chamber, shot and wounded an opposition figure from the Aidgylara Movement and a former deputy prosecutor general and deputy secretary of the security council in Sukhumi, Sokhumi City. He was hospitalized with several wounds to both legs and fractures to his facial bones, likely caused during a beating. His coalition colleagues attributed the attack to nephews of the presidential administration chief.
