A spokesman for the Taliban governor in Khost Province said the forces have resumed attacks on Pakistani military posts along the border, The Khaama Press reports on February 27. The announcement signals a renewed phase of cross-border fighting between the two sides. The attacks began in the Districts of Zazi Maidan, Ali Sher, and Terezi in Khost Province. Local Taliban officials in Paktia also reported a new of retaliatory strikes on Pakistani security checkpoints in Dand-e Patan District. Taliban authorities claim the operations are a response to earlier Pakistani airstrikes and artillery fire, describing their actions as defensive measures aimed at protecting Afghanistan territory.
