Two Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres were killed in an encounter with Security Forces (SFs) during an anti-Naxal operation along the Indravati River belt in Jangla region in Bijapur District in the Bastar division of Chhattisgarh on February 26 (today), reports The Times of India. Bijapur Superintendent of Police (SP) Jitendra Yadav said that after the encounter, search operations led to the recovery of two bodies of uniformed Maoists from the spot. SFs also seized a cache of weapons, including one Self Loading Rifle (SLR), an INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) assault rifle and a 12-bore rifle, along with explosives and other Maoist materials. Bastar Range Inspector General of Police (IGP) P Sundarraj said search operations are still underway in the area and further details will be shared after a detailed assessment.
