Grenade event in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Matani, Peshawar District area, Pakistan on Tue 24th February 2026

A former Police officer and one terrorist were killed while another terrorist sustained injuries during an exchange of fire when the terrorists tried to ambush the officer in the limits of Matani Police Station under Hassan Khel Sub-Division of Peshawar District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on February 24, reports The Khorasan Diary. According to official sources, unidentified terrorists attempted to stop a former Police officer, identified as Rizwan, son of Ghulam Khan, a resident of Asho Khel Abdullah Khel. Rizwan, who had previously served in the Police force and was reportedly armed at the time, opened fire upon seeing the terrorists. During the exchange of fire, one terrorist was killed and another sustained injuries. In response, the terrorists threw a hand grenade, which fatally wounded Rizwan. Authorities confirmed that Rizwan died at the scene.
