On February 22, two key accused, identified as Saranpreet Singh and Hardeep Singh, were injured during a Police encounter near Nushera Pannuan in Tarn Taran District of Punjab, in the killing of Aam Admi Party (AAP) sarpanch (head of the Panchayat, village-level local self-Government institution), Harbrinder Singh, reports The Tribune. They allegedly opened fire on police while being stopped, prompting retaliatory firing. Two pistols were recovered. Saranpreet Singh is among the four suspects involved in the sarpanch’s killing. Investigation is ongoing.
