As many as two Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres were killed in an encounter with Security Forces (SFs) in a forest along Ganjam-Kandhamal border in Karada Forest area under Raikia Police Station limits in Kandhamal District of Odisha on February 22, reports ETV Bharat. The slain Maoists have been identified as Jagesh, an ‘area committee member (ACM), and Rashmi, a party member of the CPI-Maoist. Both carried a combined bounty of INR 2.75 million on their heads. Belonging to the Kalahandi Kandhamal Boudh Nayagarh (KKBN) division of the CPI-Maoist, the deceased were active in the district and allegedly involved in several violent incidents, Police said. Several weapons and items were seized by the security personnel from the spot.
