On February 22, three Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists, including top ‘Commander’ Saifullah, were killed by the Army during a gunbattle at Wanipora, Passarkut in the Chatroo area in Kishtwar District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), reports Daily Excelsior. Two AK-47 rifles, one M4 Carbine, another AK rifle, a large quantity of ammo, explosives, eatables and other belongings were recovered. The operation, “Trashi-I”, was launched on intel from J-K Police, Intelligence Bureau and Army sources. Saifullah, active for nearly five years across Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua and Udhampur, had masterminded several attacks, including a July 2024 strike killing four soldiers. Earlier, one terrorist was killed on February 4, 2026, and another was injured in Chatroo and other three were killed in this encounter. With this incident, seven JeM terrorists have been eliminated in the Jammu region in 2026.
