On February 22, four villagers of Charlapang village, identified as Alim Mia, Nuru Mia, Safor Mia, and Nurul Haque, were injured after sand extractors fired pellet guns when locals tried to prevent them from digging sand beyond the approved area of the Meghna River in Nabinagar Upazila (Sub-District) of Brahmanbaria District, reports The Daily Star. Nabinagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Rafiqul Islam said, “The incident occurred near Charlapang village. Police, acting on information, rushed to the spot, and legal proceedings are underway.”
