On February 21, a Lieutenant Colonel and a Sepoy of the Pakistan Army were killed during an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in Bannu District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Province, when a vehicle-borne suicide bomber targeted a Security Forces (SFs) convoy, reports Dawn. The deceased were identified as Lt Col Shahzada Gul Faraz (43), and Sepoy Karamat Shah (28). Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that five militants associated with Fitna al Khawarij, also known as Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in the ensuing exchange of fire. Ittihadul Mujahideen Pakistan (IMP) claimed responsibility for the attack.
