IED event in Dhaka, Jatrabari area, Bangladesh on Sat 21st February 2026

On February 21, a Police Constable of Jatrabari Police Station, identified as Mohammad Shah Alam, 33, was stabbed by unidentified miscreants during a search at a checkpoint in Jatrabari area of Dhaka, reports The Daily Star. Police also recovered an abandoned bag with five crude bombs and another explosive device from the scene. SI Mohammad Sahidur Rahman of the Police Station stated that around noon, they intercepted four youths carrying two bags due to suspicious movements. When the Police team chased the attackers, the miscreants exploded a crude bomb and managed to flee the scene, the SI added. The abandoned bag containing the explosives was later handed over to the Bomb Disposal Unit.
